entry 1
so while trying to sell our loot, i got to know alizee ay fez, a catburglar lady. she’s really quite nice. sadly balgrim and iridias don’t like her because she “steals stuff and that’s soo unjust”. SAYS THE GRAVE ROBBER. also she probably set up some evil genius type of dude to take control of the academy in khunchom. still not sure if i mind that? i mean, i don’t really care about the academy either way. welp, we’ll see i guess? otherwise i’ll just go home and cuddle okharim. probably the best thing to do anyways ¯(ツ)/¯
entry 2
okay. so. this didn’t turn out quite as easy as i thought it’d be…? turns out hasrabal stole a dragon-soul from the academy and made the entire city fall under some sort of illusion spell? i can’t even really explain it, but the magic felt real powerful and even more foreign than anything else i’ve experienced before. aaaanyways, after i last left you, we grabbed some super fast flying carpet and went to find khadil okharim, who’s the archmagister of the academy. i so prefer flying on my own. at least i can control the way i fly like that. no one fell off so that’s good, but it’s kind of a miracle no one died.
i really don’t get how iridias likes flying on carpets. you don’t feel the winds, you don’t feel your connection to gaia, you don’t feel alive. you only feel terrified. you’re at the mercy of some spirit and have to beg it to do your bidding or force it otherwise. no, i truly prefer the way of my sisters. still not sure how okharim was able to enjoy it, but i think he just likes the spray water. (but getting to fly on the carpet did make me sad. i really want to be able to fly again T_T why’d you have to be such an asshole balgrim?).
well, after picking up the mage, getting him back to the academy it turns out that hasrabal easily walked through even the most complicated and elaborate security schemes into the best-protected areas of the basement, where they keep…………….. dragon souls. lots. of. dragon. souls. shiny, shimmering, fascinating gems, containing dragon souls. so, i looked at them. after balgrim did it, nbd. and… i was just gone. out of it. no idea what happened. for a good amount of time. hours. when i came to i was in the courtyard, dragons were flying overhead and assaulting the city. in the distance, giants were approaching. no idea what even happened, but someone said we should get the dragon soul that hasrabal had taken and given as a gift to his daughter. who’s also the wife of stipen kulibin—purveyor of fine, horrible carpets and prince of khunchom—who’d made us get khadil okharim in the first place. so we fought against literal demons, saved people from certain death from crashing buildings and got to the palace where stipen’s wife was holed up, trying to help out the injured palace guards. luckily she easily handed over the gem containing the dragon soul, but then a giant tyrian(?) dragon appeared out of nowhere and started tearing the palace apart. but balgrim just ran at the dragon, fighting him, so i tried to help out a little—turns out i’m really kind of lost against a dragon, but the others were just as fricked—before the the dragon just flew off after our resident dwarf poked it a few times… so we had to go back. across. the. city. on the thrice darned carpet. and if that weren’t enough, a hail storm started. i genuinely thought we were about to die there for a hot minute, but some giant dragon—that apparentlly was supposed to actually be dead, but we’d saved it from demons earlier on (that’s why we fought those in the first place)—protected us from that grisly fate. somehow??? this is so confusing. so after we landed in the academy we brought the gem we got from stipen’s wife back to the other gems, fighting crocodile warriors along the way with only me still having any decent amount of sumu’s power left available to use with some artifact the others recovered while i was out of it. so i used the artifact, despite never having used one before. turns out you really don’t have to do anything? it just eagerly takes all the force you can throw at it and converts it into a spell, but it’s one of those strange ones the mathemagicians use. which means that i, who understands next to nothing of their strange matrices, threw a powerful explosion, an aerofaxius, at the warriors. however we only barely were able to make it past them anyways, all about ready to collapse (except for okharim ofc, he doesn’t seem to tire, like, ever. guess it’s from all those cat naps. i should nap more. but we’ve been on the road so much lately napping is kinda hard??). anyways, we enter the room we were in before, the one that has all the gems behind a curtain. khadil goes to place the gem back where it was before just as a literal army of crocodile men come in. like what. all of us feel about ready to die, drained as we are. and then all of them just… disappear. out of nowhere. gone. same with our injuries. just, gone.
turns out that putting that gem back made the illusion dissipate. yeah, the one i mentioned at the start of this entry. exactly. nobody of us expected that. at least it’s over. nobody died. well, nobody of significance. i’m pretty sure some of the townsfolk died despite this only being an illusion.
oh, and we also saved a dude who’s even more out of it than i was after looking at the nice sparkly gems based on what i gather. i’ll try looking into that a bit more once i’ve slept. for like a day.
